Culmyra

Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 July 2026

Culmyra is a goal accountability service: you set a goal, optionally put money behind it, and we hold you to it. These terms are the deal. The short version is in plain sight throughout the product: your card is charged once, at your deadline, only if you finish under your goal's win line. That line is 80% of your check-ins by default; if you chose hard mode, it is 100% and a single miss forfeits the stake. Everything else below supports those two sentences.

1. Who we are and who can use Culmyra

Culmyra ("we", "us") provides the Culmyra web and mobile applications. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to use Culmyra. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account and for keeping access to your sign-in email secure.

2. The stake: exactly when your card is charged

When you create a goal you may attach a stake: an amount you choose, on a payment card you save. Saving a card places no charge and no hold; your money stays in your account.

One charge, one condition. At your goal's deadline we count your check-ins. If you completed at least your goal's success threshold, the goal succeeds and nothing is ever charged. The threshold is 80% by default; if you chose hard mode at creation, it is 100% and every check-in counts. Finish under the threshold and the goal fails and your card is charged the stake amount, once. There are no other charges, no fees on top, and no partial charges.

Grace. Every check-in stays open for 24 hours after its scheduled time. The deadline itself is evaluated in your own timezone, after the final check-in's grace has passed.

Where forfeits go. Forfeited stakes are kept by Culmyra and fund the service. A stake is a commitment device, not a bet: there is nothing to win, no pool, no element of chance, and no way to receive money from Culmyra. This is not gambling, and stakes are not deposits or e-money; we never hold your funds.

Cancelling. You may abandon a goal before its deadline; abandoning a staked goal counts as failing it and the stake is charged. This is the point of the product.

3. Verification and fair play

Check-ins are verified by evidence: photos taken in the app, or data from sources you connect (location, health, screen time, or other integrations). Automated checks, including AI vision, compare your evidence against your goal and may flag suspicious submissions for review.

Submitting fabricated or misleading evidence is a breach of these terms. We may mark affected check-ins as missed, settle the goal accordingly, or close accounts used for systematic cheating. Culmyra only works if the proof means something.

4. Culmyra Pro

Culmyra Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks higher limits and the Warden enforcer (escalating reminders, voice calls, texts to a contact you nominate, and per-slip penalties you configure). Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled and can be cancelled any time, effective at the end of the paid period. Prices are shown at checkout. Where you subscribe through an app store, that store's billing terms apply to the subscription.

By nominating an escalation contact you confirm they have agreed to receive messages about your goals. Per-slip penalties you enable are charged as configured and disclosed at the time you enable them.

5. Refunds, mistakes, and disputes

If you believe a charge was made in error (for example, evidence submitted in time but not counted, or a duplicate charge), contact us within 30 days of the charge and we will investigate against the full record of your goal. Genuine errors are refunded in full. Charges that followed the rules above (under 80% at the deadline) are the product working as described and are not refundable.

6. Your content and our licence

You own your goals, notes, and photos. You grant us the limited licence needed to operate the service: storing your content, processing it for verification and planning, and showing it to people you explicitly share it with. Proof photos are private by default and are deleted on the schedule described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use Culmyra to set goals that are unlawful or harmful to you or others, to harass anyone (including through cheers or shared goals), to probe or disrupt the service, or to resell access. We may apply fair-use limits to AI planning and verification.

8. Health disclaimer

Culmyra is an accountability tool, not a medical, financial, or psychological service. Plans are generated suggestions, not professional advice. Consult a professional before pursuing goals that could affect your health, and stop if a goal is hurting you. Stake only what you can afford to lose.

9. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting your account abandons any goals still running: active goals with an armed stake are charged as forfeits (see section 2), and the exact amount is shown to you before you confirm. Goals without an armed stake are cancelled without charge. Deletion then removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy and is permanent. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.

10. Liability

Culmyra is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and £100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud. You are responsible for the goals you choose and the stakes you set.

11. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the product evolves; material changes will be announced in the product or by email, and continuing to use Culmyra after they take effect is acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Questions and disputes: contact us via the email on your account receipts or the address published on the site.
